Sunlight glistened in the water
before it found you.

Droplets clung to your skin,
gliding down your abdomen,
shimmering like shards of topaz.

Your hands pressed oil into my shoulders,
slipping down my spine.
Summer had already warmed the day.
Your touch revealed a new way
my body could radiate.

Sweat pooling.
I’m melting.
Heat rising.

You pull me in your current
as we float, content to simmer.
Shade me from the rays
as you kiss my neck.
The feeling blooms
in the most sacred parts of me.

You feed me.
Nourish me.
Cater to my comfort.

Afternoon fades to evening.
The sun slips behind the skyline.

I wanted you there.
Then.
Before.
From the first glimmer of topaz.

You take my hand
and lead me inside.

My lips slick with summer,
I fall to my knees.
I taste you hard against my tongue.

Your throat arches back,
stretching inked wings
as you exhale.

I flutter.
I flood.
I gaze up at you.

Moonlight dances across your tattoos.
You look back at me
until I glow.
I shine for you,
like topaz.
